Samenvatting
In 2025, we celebrate the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, highlighting a field that is revolutionizing our understanding of nature and driving the next wave of innovation. In this lecture, I will take you on a journey into the fascinating world of quantum materials – substances whose properties are governed by the strange and beautiful laws of quantum mechanics. We will explore how electrons in these materials can act collectively to create entirely new phenomena, from superconductivity and magnetism to topological states of matter. I will also show how these discoveries are paving the way for transformative technologies – novel sensors, ultra-efficient electronics, and quantum computers that could reshape our future.
